The site that still runs, that nobody wants to touch.
A lot of businesses have a WordPress site or a custom PHP application that was built years ago, still does something important, and is running on a version of PHP that’s past end of life. We work on those.
That usually starts with an assessment: what’s actually running, what’s holding it on an old version, and what breaks if you upgrade. From there it’s either a careful upgrade in place, a migration to current WordPress, or a spec for a rebuild if the old system has outgrown what it can be patched into.
We also run the servers some of these live on, so hosting, SSL and PHP upgrades are part of the same conversation rather than somebody else’s problem.
Where we usually get called in
- Your host sent a notice that your PHP version is being retired
- A plugin or custom page broke after an update and the original developer is gone
- A member portal or internal tool runs on code nobody on staff understands
- You want to know whether to fix it or replace it before spending money on either
